On 31st January, we were delighted to welcome our community back to the STC and SJS campus for our annual Winter Festival. While the weather may have been grey, it certainly didn’t dampen our joy or our commitment to fundraising💞!

We loved seeing our students, families, and even some familiar alumni faces back on campus. It was a beautiful reminder of what makes our community so special. 🤝💙

A huge thank you to the STC PTSA and SJS PTA for hosting such a fantastic event. We also want to extend a particular thank you to our incredible Facilities Team, who worked late into Saturday evening to ensure the campus was ready for lessons.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so memorable! 💙✨

We are thrilled to highlight a powerful collaboration between art and well-being. This initiative brought together 17 Year 12 students and one Year 9 student, working alongside renowned artist @ta_x_ka , Shatin Hosital, and @esf_englishschoolsfoundation .

Drawing inspiration from student designs, the mural promotes health through nature and positive ageing. Titled "Transforming Walls: Transforming Communities," the artwork symbolises the deep connection between the Sha Tin and Tai Po communities. It reflects themes of regrowth and vitality, particularly significant following the recent Tai Po fires, showcasing local mountains and symbols of healing for patients and staff.

Beyond the art, this project strengthens our ties with the medical field, offering future internship and mentorship opportunities for our students. It is a true testament to how community spirit can foster meaningful change. 🤝💙

A huge well done to everyone involved, and a sincere thank you to ESF Centre for the funding and support that made this vision a reality!

We were honored to host Matt Friedman, CEO of The Mekong Club, this past Tuesday, January 27th.👏

It was a powerful and sobering session as Matt shared firsthand accounts of the realities of modern slavery, stories that are often hidden in plain sight. He didn’t just highlight the heartbreak; he broke down the mechanics of how the private sector is being held accountable and the vital role of corporate responsibility in ending exploitation.

He reinforced the idea that modern slavery is a global crisis, but by making conscious choices as ethical consumers, we can all be part of the solution💪.

Parenting is a lifelong journey of love and learning! At the core of parenting is love ❤️🧡💜 Using Dr. Gary Chapman’s “The Five Love Languages” framework, parents learned about the framework and the actions/behaviors that represented each love language. They identified their own love language, shared personal challenges and engaged in meaningful group discussions during the workshop.

The Five Love Languages are:

1) Words of Affirmation 🗣️🗣️: Verbal and written expressions of love, appreciation, and encouragement. (I.e. A note of encouragement - I believe in you!)

2) Physical Touch🫂✋: Demonstrating affection through hugs, kisses, and other forms of closeness. (I.e. A unique handshake with your teen, pat on the shoulder, fist pump, etc).

3) Quality Time ⏱️⏰: Giving one-to-one undivided attention to foster deep emotional connections. (I.e. Cooking a meal with your teen and enjoying it together).

4) Acts of Service 📚👩‍🍳: Love is shown through helpful actions. (I.e. Doing your teens chore while he’s busy studying for an exam or buying materials needed to finish a school project).

5) Receiving Gifts 🎁💝: Thoughtful presents that convey love and care. Select gifts that fit the interests of your teen. (I.e. Getting tickets to watch a movie that they’ve been waiting to watch for months).

Speaking all 5 love languages is important but speaking the teen’s primary love language is the fastest way to fill their emotional love tank and create deep emotional connections.

We hope that this workshop has given parents some helpful tools on how they can foster strong, fulfilling and healthy relationships with their teens 💓💓💓

On 19 January, we proudly showcased the work of our design students at the 'UNFFNSHED' pop-up exhibition! 🛠️

In this unit, students were challenged to design and manufacture a piece of interlocking furniture. By exploring ergonomics and user-centred design, they ensured every piece was functional, inclusive, and responsible.

It was a journey of true iterative development, from sketching and Adobe Illustrator to manufacturing with the CNC router. Students modelled, tested, and refined their ideas until they achieved a fully functional prototype.

Swipe to see their creations! ➡️✨
